    EMIS (our GP software provider) is moving patient records to the Amazon Warehousing Service (AWS)

    With effect from 10th June 2019, EMIS will start storing this practice’s EMIS Web data in a highly secure, third party cloud hosted environment, namely Amazon Web Services (“AWS”). The data will remain in the UK at all times and will be fully encrypted both in transit and at rest. In doing this, there will be no change to the control of access to your data and the hosted service provider will not have any access to the decryption keys. AWS is one of the world’s largest cloud companies, already supporting numerous public sector clients (including the NHS), and it offers the very highest levels of security and support.

    Patient Access

    From our software supplier: ''The all-new Patient Access is now live! Update on current service: The all-new Patient Access is now up and running. Sincere apologies if any of your patients have had difficulties accessing the service since we launched. We believe these issues have affected no more than 1% of Patient Access users and we have now resolved the large majority of them. We’re so sorry for any inconvenience caused , please rest assured we are putting all available resource behind fixing any remaining issues. If any patients are unable to log in to the Patient Access app on an Android tablet, please for the moment use the website at www.patientaccess.com where the full service is available – we are working on making these devices compatible with the app and expect this to be ready by the end of this week.''

This is extracted in order to make increased use of information from medical records and either used just by the NHS with the intention of improving healthcare and the quality of care delivered to patients or may be sold to external companies such as universities or commercial organisations.??!!
